Slow down. Do less. Rest & Recharge.
Can we talk about the worst advice the wellness industry ever gave high achieving women?
Because rest and recharge for female entrepreneurs does not look the way most people think it does. And the conventional version of rest, the meditation retreats and the silent mornings and the couch rotting in the name of recovery, is failing a very specific type of woman. The woman who is wired for more. Who does not slow down because slowing down does not actually recharge her. It just makes her feel behind.
There is a better conversation to have about rest. And it starts with throwing out everything you thought you knew about what recovery is supposed to look like.
Here is what happens when you tell a high achieving female entrepreneur to slow down.
She laughs, rolls her eyes, and then she goes and does exactly what she was going to do anyway.
Because telling someone who is wired for more to do less is like telling a golden retriever to stop being excited about the ball. It is simply not in the design. And the advice does not fail because she is undisciplined or resistant to change. It fails because it was never built for her energy type in the first place.
The rest and recharge conversation has been dominated by one particular version of recovery. Quiet. Still. Passive. Slow.
And for a certain type of woman that version of rest genuinely works. But for the manifesting generator, the fighter, the multi-passionate entrepreneur who gets bored when she has to focus on one thing and one thing only, enforced stillness is not recovery. It is its own kind of depletion.
So she skips the rest entirely. She tells herself she will recover at the next milestone. And keeps going on empty and calls it ambition.
Eventually the body sends a bill for everything she ignored.
Here is the reframe that changes everything.
Rest is not the absence of activity. It is the presence of the right activity.
Real rest and recharge for female entrepreneurs is not about doing nothing. It is about doing something that returns energy to your body instead of taking it from you. Something that gives your brain a genuine holiday from your business, your responsibilities, and the weight of everything you are building.
The key word is energize.
Not exhaust or numb or distract.
Energize.
Because there is a significant difference between collapsing in front of Netflix because you have nothing left and genuinely choosing an activity that fills you back up. One is depletion wearing the costume of rest. The other is actual recovery that compounds into sustainable high performance.
It is passive consumption that leaves your nervous system more stimulated and more depleted than before you picked it up. Watching television because you are too tired to do anything else is not rest. It is your body shutting down because you ran it past empty.
Real rest is what happens when you find the activities that light you up from the inside.
Let me tell you what rest actually looks like for me.
I love a ridiculous argument.
Not a real argument. A silly, completely meaningless debate about something that does not matter at all. Is cereal a soup? Can a hot dog be a sandwich. Does pineapple belong on pizza, and why the answer is obviously yes.
I will go to the mat for my position. I will defend it passionately and dramatically and with complete commitment to the bit. And I will finish that conversation laughing and buzzing and completely ready to take on whatever comes next.
That is rest.
Not because I did nothing. Because my brain got a holiday from my business through pure joy. Making people laugh does the same thing for me. The moment I get someone to genuinely crack up, something recharges in me that no amount of lying on the couch ever could.
In human design I am a manifesting generator. I love multitasking, and I thrive with multiple things happening at once. Single tasking is not my rest. It is my personal nightmare. And once I stopped trying to recover the way the wellness industry told me to and started recovering the way my actual energy type needed me to, everything changed.
My recharge looks nothing like the stock photo version of a woman meditating on a yoga mat at sunrise (although it is nice from time to time).
And yours probably does not either.
Here is the good news about resting and recharging for female entrepreneurs who have never found conventional rest advice useful.
You already know what energizes you. You’ve just been dismissing it as unproductive.
The activity that makes time disappear. The conversation that leaves you buzzing. The creative pursuit that fills you with ideas. The physical movement that makes you feel like yourself again. The social connection that reminds you why you love people.
That is your rest.
And finding it starts with one simple question you can ask yourself after every activity this week.
Do I feel more like myself or less?
More alive or more depleted?
Energized or empty?
That answer is telling you everything you need to know. The activities that leave you feeling more are your fuel. Ones that leave you feeling less have been quietly draining you while you called them rest or productivity or self-care.
Here are some examples of what genuine rest and recharge looks like:
Social connector: rest looks like a long phone call with her funniest friend, a dinner with people who make her laugh until her stomach hurts, or a conversation that has absolutely nothing to do with business.
The creative: rest looks like cooking something complicated, tending to a garden, painting without an agenda, or making sourdough bread at 10pm because the process itself is the point.
Busy Bee: rest looks like a long drive with a podcast that has nothing to do with work, a dance session in the kitchen to a song that makes her feel unstoppable, or a walk without a destination or a phone.
The competitor: rest looks like a game night, a friendly debate, a sport, or anything with just enough stakes to be genuinely engaging without the pressure of professional consequence.
None of these look like the conventional version of rest. All of them are legitimate, effective, scientifically supported ways for a high performing nervous system to recover.
Here is what I want high achieving female entrepreneurs to understand about rest.
This is not the opposite of ambition. It is what ambition looks like when it is built to last.
When I say I want to help female entrepreneurs live their happiest, healthiest, wealthiest lives, I am not asking them to want less, build less or be less. I am asking them to stop running their most important asset, themselves, past empty and then wondering why the results are not matching the effort.
A genuinely recharged entrepreneur makes better decisions. She prices from a place of groundedness rather than scarcity. Shows up for her clients with real presence rather than performed energy. Builds from desire rather than depletion. And she creates wealth that feels as good as it looks because she is not too exhausted to enjoy it.
Rest and recharge for female entrepreneurs is not a wellness trend. It is a wealth strategy.
And it starts with one honest question.
What is the activity that leaves you feeling most like yourself?
Go do more of that.
Not because it will make you more productive. Because you deserve a life that actually energizes you. And a business that gets to benefit from the version of you that has been properly fuelled.
Your rest does not have to look like anyone else’s rest.
It just has to actually work.
If this resonated and you are ready to stop recovering the wrong way and start building a rhythm that works with your actual energy type, the Rhythm and Revenue Blueprint was designed for exactly this.
It maps out your unique energy type, your ideal working environment, and the specific activities and rhythms that fuel you versus drain you so you can build a business and a life that is genuinely sustainable.
Not a cookie cutter framework. A blueprint that was built around you.
