If you deal with chronic headaches, shoulder pain, or you’ve noticed your posture creeping upward, like your shoulders are always slightly raised, this might be the missing piece no one has explained to you.
You’ve probably been to doctors.
You have tried different solutions.
And still… nothing fully resolves it.
Let’s make this simple.
Your body is not confused.
It’s responding exactly the way it was designed to.
When you’re presented with a challenge, your body activates a survival response:
fight, flight, fawn, or freeze.
This isn’t just for physical danger.
Your nervous system responds the same way to emotional and financial stress.
For business owners, that looks like:
Your body doesn’t separate “business stress” from “real danger.”
It simply asks: Is my survival being threatened?
And then it reacts.
When your body goes into a stress response, certain muscles activate to prepare you for action.
Your upper trapezius muscles (the ones around your neck and shoulders) tighten and shorten to brace you. They’re getting you ready to fight, move, or protect yourself.
That’s not the problem.
The problem is what happens next.
Most people handle stress mentally:
And logically, you think: Okay, I’m good now.
But your body doesn’t automatically get that message.
So it stays ready.
Because from your body’s perspective:
stress keeps happening… so why would it relax?
When your body never gets a clear signal that it’s safe again:
Over time, this becomes your baseline.
Those tight muscles?
They can actually harden in that position.
That’s where the chronic headaches come from.
And where the shoulder pain comes from.
Your body has learned:
Stay ready. Stay braced. Don’t relax.
There’s another layer most people don’t realize.
When your shoulders are constantly raised:
Your lower traps are responsible for pulling your shoulders down and keeping your posture relaxed and supported.
When they’re not being used, they weaken.
They can even begin to atrophy.
So now your body isn’t just tight, it’s imbalanced.
And the cycle continues.
This is where most approaches fall short.
Journaling helps.
Affirmations help.
Mindset work helps.
But if everything you’re doing stays in your head…
you’re skipping the body entirely.
And you don’t get to bypass your body.
It will always show up.
Yes, some people build wealth without addressing their body.
But look closer.
You’ll often see:
They hit the number…
and then their body collects the cost.
That’s not sustainable success.
That’s delayed impact.
This is why I talk about all three:
They are not separate.
If your body doesn’t feel safe,
your success will always feel like pressure.
If your body stays in survival mode,
your growth will always come with tension.
If you’re dealing with:
It’s not just physical.
It’s not just mental.
It is your nervous system asking for a different kind of support.
Not more pushing.
Not more overthinking.
But learning how to signal safety…
so your body can finally stop bracing for what’s next.
I didn’t build my life by accident.
I built a business that allowed me to move across the world,
to live in places like New Zealand,
and to create a life that actually feels like mine.
And I did it by learning how to work with my body,
not against it.
That’s the work.
And it changes everything.
If you’re interested to see how this works in real time, I invite you to attend Somatic Wealth, my free event where we put my process into practice.
It’s not a masterclass where I talk at you for 90 minutes, it’s a hands-on conversation around what is limiting our capacity in our businesses and how we can expand our capacity to hold and handle more.
