The patterns we carry in our lives often reveal our deepest ambition, drive, and resilience. I’ve seen these patterns show up again and again with the female entrepreneurs I’ve met, and I bet you see them in yourself as well.
When I was 15, I walked into my high school counselor’s office and said, “I want a job. And I want to graduate a year early.”
He laughed. Told me no one would hire me until I was 16. Said graduating a year early? Almost unheard of! Maybe six months, but not a full year.
A few weeks later I turned 16, took my driver’s test, drove straight to Buffalo Wild Wings, applied for a job… and got hired on the spot. By graduation, I had done exactly what I set out to do, a full year early, with the exact number of credits I needed.
College? I found a loophole to get into the University of Utah without writing an essay or filling out an application. I graduated with exactly what I needed: a Bachelor’s in Strategic Communication and a minor in Business.
Later, I became one of the highest-paid employees(besides the GM) at two restaurants by creating a hybrid role that gave me both the money of a waitress and the power of a manager. Why choose one, when you can create both?
As a female entrepreneur, you know ambition isn’t just about working harder, it’s about strategically getting from point A to point B, on your own terms. You may notice:
These patterns can help you get ahead, but they can also leave you exhausted if not managed intentionally. Recognizing your own ambition patterns is the first step in creating a life that’s both high-achieving and sustainable.
For me, a “slow” life isn’t the opposite of ambition. It’s waking up, making breakfast, enjoying a quiet moment, and planning my day without stress. It’s balancing fast-paced problem-solving, creative challenges, and financial growth with moments of rest and joy.
This is the kind of balance all high-achieving female entrepreneurs deserve. Ambition doesn’t have to come at the cost of your wellbeing.
High-achieving women often chase cookie-cutter solutions that don’t work for their level of ambition. The key is designing your life intentionally:
The goal isn’t to push harder. It’s to build a life you love while staying true to your ambitious self.
If this story resonates with you, I’d love to hear about yours. Because your story matters and the life you’re building as a female entrepreneur is inspiring. Sharing your story can help you see where your strengths lie, and where a little support could help you level up.
